HPACG thanks the Coral Gables Community Foundation for offering the organization the opportunity to be a sponsor at one of the eight homes in the historic Chinese-themed village. A perfect fit for our group.
Check out the article below by HPACG president Karelia Martinez Carbonell who explains the history of the Chinese Village built between 1926 and 1927, and designed by an extraordinary architect that George Merrick commissioned for the project. Henry Killam Murphy was a Yale professor with vast experience as an architect in China at the time of Chiang Kai-shek, given the Yale-in-China educational commissions that took him there in 1914. He later developed a practice in New York and New Haven within the City Beautiful Movement.
