Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables (HPACG) has been a recent beneficiary of partnerships in back-to-back events at Books & Books and the University of Miami Libraries. HPACG's ability to leverage its mission and loyal following among preservationists into strong partnerships with the above-mentioned institutions was a unique opportunity to express our mission of “promoting the understanding and importance of historical resources and their preservation” to a broad and varied group of individuals in the greater community.
On a recent beautiful afternoon, the Historical Preservation Association of Coral Gables (HPACG) celebrated “An Afternoon in Italy” right here in Coral Gables at the historically-designated Italianate-style home of Maria Alicia and Ajit Asrani. The home, built in 1928, is one of the earliest on the Coral Gables waterway and featuring a magnificent garden, a stunning Loggia with original ironwork, two hand-painted fireplaces, and a spectacular sunset.
“After almost twenty-five years,” said Karelia Martinez Carbonell, the organization's newly elected president, “it was time for us expand our horizons, develop a consistent marketing identity, and engage more fully in new media outreach.”
