At this 4th annual Founder’s Day tribute, sponsored by the Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables, and hosted by the Merrick House Governing Board, guests and dignitaries were reminded of one of the primary sources of Merrick’s vision — the 1832 book by American novelist Washington Irving,
The symposium brought attendees from around the U.S. to experience “one of the country’s richest collections of mid-century and postmodern architecture.”
VIP patrons will have the opportunity to preview original artwork of the White Way lights, sip Sophie Baron Grand Reserve Champagne, and enjoy assorted “fruits & fromages”. Get to meet the contributing artists in private garden setting in the Country French village. By invitation only.

Recently, guests joined local artists and the Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables (HPACG) in celebration of Merrick’s vision of “art in public places” and the historically significant decorative White Way lights.
After many years of starts and stops, the City of Coral Gables has taken one big step in the campaign to save a once “lost landmark”— the buying back of the historical lampposts from Florida Power and Light (FPL).
