It has been with great pleasure that the Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables (HPACG) has partnered with the Coral Gables Museum on numerous occasions since the Museum opened to the public in the Old Police and Fire Station in 2011. Both organizations share an interest in preserving local historic sites, educating the public on their historic significance, and fostering an appreciation for the architecture, urban design and plan of the City of Coral Gables.
Recently, HPACG presented a donation to Caroline Parker, Director of Programs at the Coral Gables Museum to enhance the organizations existing partnership. The donation of $2,000 will support the Museum’s educational Weekend Tours.
Each weekend, the Coral Gables Museum offers educational walking, biking and exhibit tours that educate the public about our architectural, cultural and historic heritage. In January 2015, the Museum began to offer cell phone audio tours of both the “Creating the Dream: George Merrick and His Vision for Coral Gables” exhibit and the Old Police and Fire Station, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
